Civilian drones were born from the transfer of know -how and technologies from military drones to the civil sector.  However, this emerging civilian market requires adaptation and structuring on a sustainable basis. It is in this perspective that the Professional Civil Drone Federation was formed. As a federating body allowing discussion and collaboration, the Federation contributes to laying the groundwork and shaping the foundations of this flourishing sector.

France is now at the forefront in the civilian drone sector in two aspects  : regulations and technology.

French civil drone players are mostly SMEs and young innovative companies.  This sector is an opportunity not to be missed for French industry. The FPDC wants to develop relations and interactions between SMEs, large groups, schools, universities and R&D centers as much as possible. The FPDC is a reference point for this young industry, both with the supervisory authorities and private third parties, insurers or the media.

The civil drone sector in France is still burgeoning. There are still many barriers to cross and many bases to establish. The centralizing and unifying vocation of the FPDC makes it possible to accelerate the development of this sector which has the potential to become a key player in our economy.

Finally, exchanges between manufacturers and operators are essential for the long-term development of the sector.  On the other hand, major contractors as well as airspace regulatory authorities are asking for a grouping of economic players in the drone sector. The consultation of the actors within the FPDC will make it possible to find common solutions in an appropriate framework.

By establishing complementarity and virtuous coordination  between the various players in the sector, the Federation is opening up a sustainable and buoyant future for the civilian drone sector.
